Amy Drezner
#FLWRBOMB_!

June 18 – July 23, 2016

Opening Reception
Saturday, June 18, 6pm - 9pm

Issues of scale and texture assume major roles in new works from Amy Drezner’s  #FLWRBOMB_!, on view at c. nichols project from June 18-July 23.  #FLWRBOMB_! continues Drezner’s long-established interest and participation in Arte Povera (she studied in Urbino, Italy with Jannis Kounellis in 1987). Drezner updates Arte Povera concepts by repositioning current building material (aluminum window track, vinyl signage) available at any Home Depot with archetypal figures blurring the edge between fashion and the tensions of a particular anonymity used in architecture for scale.

#FLWRBOMB_! is Ms. Drezner’s first gallery show since her graduation from UCLA with an M.A. in Architecture in 2002. Previously, Ms. Drezner showed sculpture with Mark Foxx Gallery in 1995 and with Lance Fung Gallery in New York City. In 1998 she was part of the Artist Project Series at the Santa Monica Museum of Art. Pursuant to her interest in “sculpting” with atmospheric materials, #FLWRBOMB_! contains a scent element that functions much like her “soundscapes” that can be heard at the following web address:http://drezner.bandcamp.com/track/2-birds-a
